A woman in her 30s has been injured during an aggravated burglary in Longford town.
The incident happened at around 3am when a number of men gained entry to an apartment in Market Square, occupied at the time by a woman and her young son.
Gardaí say the woman was assaulted during the incident but her son was uninjured.
It is understood the woman was threatened with a gun.
She is said to be shaken following the incident.
Gardaí in Longford are investigating.
