A Health Service Executive review has been launched into the charity Ataxia Ireland, following a complaint involving allegations of financial irregularity.
In a statement, the HSE said it had sought and received "clarification on a number of issues" after a meeting with the voluntary organisation.
It said the complaint and other issues had been discussed with the charity.
In a separate statement, Ataxia Ireland said it would fully cooperate with the review.
The charity provides support to people with Friedreich's ataxia and other genetic ataxias.
