A former Labour Party senator has appeared in court in Cork to face a number of charges relating to motoring offences, including drink-driving.
James Heffernan, 36, appeared at Fermoy District Court this morning where he was identified as Seamus Ó Heifearáin.
Mr Heffernan is facing one charge of drink driving, two charges of dangerous driving, one charge of driving without car insurance and one charge of driving without a valid license.
All charges relate to 1 August 2016 and took places at addresses in and around Mitchelstown in north Cork.
The case was adjourned until 7 October.
Mr Heffernan left the Labour Party in 2012 and stood unsuccessfully as a Social Democrat candidate for Limerick county in this year's general election.
