An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Paul Curran in Dublin over the weekend.

Graham McEvoy, with an address in Captain's Road in Crumlin, was brought before the Dublin District Court this morning.

Mr Curran, 24, was stabbed at around 4pm on Saturday in Seagull House, Rutland Avenue, in Crumlin.

He was taken to St James's Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Detective Sergeant Danny Kelly this morning gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.

He told the court that he arrested Mr McEvoy at 12.55am today and the accused made no comment when the charge of murder was put to him.

There was no application for bail and Judge Michael Walsh remanded the teenager in custody to appear again in court next week.

As he was escorted from the courtroom Graham McEvoy gestured to a man in the public gallery and gave the thumbs-up to him and told him to tell his mother that he loved her.

An 18-year-old woman, who had also been detained in relation to the investigation, was released without charge in the early hours of this morning.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
