Man arrested in Spain over 2012 Louth murders

A man has been arrested in Spain on foot of an extradition warrant in connection with a double murder in Co Louth four years ago.

The bodies of 31-year-old Anthony Burnett of Croke Villas and 25-year-old Joseph Redmond from Ballybough, both in Dublin, were found in a burnt-out car at Ravensdale Park in Dundalk on 7 March 2012.

They had both been shot dead before the car was set on fire.

Gardaí believe the murders were linked to a drugs feud.

The man, who is in his 30s, was arrested in Alicante last night

He is being detained by the Spanish authorities pending the extradition proceedings.
