A US company has announced plans to create 320 jobs in Dublin over the next three years.

Massachusetts-based Hubspot, which manufactures marketing software, already employs more than 150 people at its Europe, Middle East and Africa headquarters in Dublin.

The new jobs will be across its sales, engineering, marketing, support and services operations.

The company also opened a new office today in Dublin.

Announcing the expansion, Hubspot president JD Sherman said the Dublin team had already been core to the success achieved by the company around the world.

The investment, supported by the Department of Jobs through IDA Ireland, has been welcomed by Jobs Minister Richard Bruton and the IDA chief executive Martin Shanahan.

Hubspot, which was founded in 2006, produces software to help companies conduct so-called inbound marketing.

Rather than marketing to potential customers via traditional adverts, it attracts them by sharing relevant useful content through social media, blogs, websites and other channels.

Its products and services are used by 18,000 customers in 90 countries.

Mr Bruton said the availability of office space for start-up and rapidly growing tech companies in Dublin is a concern but there are a number of projects coming to fruition over time.

He said the construction sector has been through a difficult time and has been slow to recover.

But he said he thinks we are starting to see the emergence of investments in Dublin that will start to ease that pressure.

He said there is no doubt that we need to make sure the market works in way that delivers service in a fair way that gives everyone the same return.
