Voting to elect the next president of the Irish Farmers' Association is to get under way at branches across the country tomorrow.

The organisation's 75,501 members will have the opportunity to elect a new leader to replace Eddie Downey, who resigned in the wake of a pay scandal last November.

Voting will conclude on Friday 15 April, with a national count taking place in the Castleknock Hotel in Dublin on Tuesday 19 April.

Three candidates are in the running to replace Mr Downey - Henry Burns, Joe Healy and Flor McCarthy.

There are also three candidates running for the position of Deputy President at the organisation - Pat Farrell, Richard Kennedy and Nigel Renaghan.
