A homemade explosive device was found during a planned search of a house in the Deanstown area of Finglas in Dublin this morning.

The Army Bomb Disposal Team arrived at the house at around 10am this morning following a request for assistance from gardaí.

The device was made safe before being removed to a safe military location for deconstruction.

Items which may be used as evidence were taken by gardaí to assist them in their investigation. 

The scene was declared safe at 10.30am.
