A search is under way for a four-man gang who attacked and robbed a 92-year-old man in his home in Balrath in Co Meath last night.

Four masked men armed with sticks forced their way into the home at around 8.15pm.

The elderly man's son, who lives with his father, had just arrived home from work when the incident occurred.

The men were threatened and pushed and two mobile phones and a small amount of cash were stolen.

Another of the man's sons arrived during the robbery and all three were locked into a bedroom before the gang escaped.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who saw a car containing a number of men in the Balrath-Kentstown area between 8pm and 9pm last night to contact Navan Garda Station on 046 903 6100.
