Gardaí arrested a man in Dublin last night after he was found to be driving a bogus taxi.

The car, which was stopped on Bride Street near the city centre at 10pm, had a fake taxi roof sign and stickers and was carrying a female passenger.

The driver had no driving licence or insurance and was driving while disqualified.

The car was not taxed and did not have a valid NCT certificate.

The driver has been charged and will appear in Dublin District Court on 30 March.

Gardaí are advising anyone who is in doubt about their taxi driver to use the Transport for Ireland Driver Check app available on the Google play store or the IoS App store.
