A 57-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being found injured outside an apartment building in Dublin.

The man was found outside Park View Apartments in Harold's Cross at around 4am after emergency services were called to an incident.

It is believed he was assaulted. He has been taken to St James's Hospital.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

They say a suspect may have left the scene in the direction of Terenure.

CCTV in the area is being examined and gardaí are carrying out door-to-door inquiries.

Anyone who was in the area between Harold's Cross Bridge and Terenure between 3.30am and 4am this morning is asked to contact Rathmines Garda Station on 01 666 6714.
