A man in his been 20s has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 46-year-old man in Co Carlow.
Gardaí say they were called to a house on Frederick Avenue in Carlow town at around 1.30pm, following a report of a man being stabbed.
The victim was seriously injured when discovered and was later pronounced dead.
A man in his 20s is being held for questioning at Carlow Garda Station.
It is believed he was known to the victim.
The area has been sealed off and a technical examination is being carried out.
The State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place.
It is understood gardaí will then decide whether to upgrade their investigation to a murder investigation.
