Two people are being questioned by gardaí in Dublin and Mullingar following the seizure of €400,000 worth of heroin.

Gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Unit stopped a car on the Clogher Road in Crumlin yesterday evening and found two kilos of heroin.

A man was arrested at the scene and is being held at Crumlin Garda Station.

Gardaí believe the drugs were destined for the midlands.

In a follow-up search in Killucan, Co Westmeath, a further three-quarters of a kilo of heroin was found.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested there and is being questioned in Mullingar Garda Station.

Gardaí believe the two were part of a drug trafficking gang supplying heroin to the midlands.
