An investigation is under way after shots were fired during an armed robbery in Dublin this morning.

Two men, both armed, entered the Roebuck Post Office on Farmhill Road in Goatstown at around 9.30am.

One of the men fired shots which caused the glass partition at the counter to shatter.

A quantity of cash was taken during the robbery before two men fled the scene in a stolen blue Subaru Impreza.

Two women working in the post office at the time were not injured. 

The car was later found near the Mount Carmel Road in Goatstown.

One man is described as being 1.78m (5'10") and was wearing a black balaclava, black woollen hat and black and navy jacket, dark coloured trousers and footwear and orange kitchen gloves.

The second man is 1.70m (5'6") and was wearing a grey tracksuit with a blue shirt underneath, black and white runners and black gloves.
