Spanish life sciences company Grifols has announced 140 jobs for west Dublin and 60 positions are to be created in Foynes, Co Limerick, by CPL Industries.
Grifols, which makes plasma products for the treatment of illnesses, has built a €100m international logistics centre in Grangecastle, Dublin.
The facility was opened by Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton today who said the jobs boost was testament to the quality workforce available in Ireland in the life sciences sector.
Grifols runs a network of 150 plasma donor centres in the US which together produce 7.5 million litres of plasma a year.
It is then moved to three facilities in the US and Spain where it is transformed into 26 different types of plasma-derived products.
Those products are then shipped to 67 countries. Two years ago the company decided it needed to expand its operating and distribution infrastructure.
The new 22,000sq m facility in Grangecastle will act as a central warehouse for all plasma coming from the US.
It will also house the company's regulatory and quality activities, R&D global management office and other administrative and commercial activities.
Meanwhile, 60 jobs are to be created in Foynes, Co Limerick, by CPL Industries.
A UK company, CPL Industries is one of the leading manufacturers of smokeless solid fuel products.
The company announced a major investment in Foynes two years ago with the promise of 142 jobs, but that project was jeopardised by the lack of government regulations on smokeless fuels.
The designation last month of Ireland as a smokeless zone has meant the company can proceed with its plans.
