An appeal for information has been issued following an attack on a 90-year-woman during a burglary at her home in Co Wicklow two weeks ago.

Eva Sutton from Bray is still recovering from her injuries sustained during the assault, which lasted more than an hour.

Two men, aged in their 20s, broke into Ms Sutton’s home on the Dublin Road in the early hours of Thursday 10 September.

She was attacked after waking at 5am as her home was being burgled despite having bars on her windows and a personal alarm around her neck.

Local people say they are horrified by the attack and have signed messages of goodwill in books around the town.

However, it is not yet certain if Ms Sutton, who was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital following the assault, will return to the house where she has spent most of her life.

Gardaí say they are following a definite line of inquiry.
