A TD has been released without charge after he was arrested in connection with an alleged assault in a pub in Co Monaghan last Sunday week.
Fine Gael TD Sean Conlan was arrested after he arrived at Castleblayney Garda Station by appointment to make a statement.
The incident is alleged to have occurred in the Conlan family pub in Ballybay at around 8pm on Sunday 23 August.
Gardaí later said that a man in his 20s was allegedly assaulted and received minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.
Mr Conlan was released without charge this afternoon and a file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
In a statement, Mr Conlan said: "I attended the Garda Station in Castleblayney this morning voluntarily to give my statement of complaint to the Gardaí about the assault which was perpetrated on me in my family pub last Sunday.
"I cooperated fully with the gardaí."
He added: "I fully refute any allegations that I assaulted anyone."
