A young boy has died following an accident on a farm in Co Mayo.
It is understood the four-year-old boy was fatally injured when he was hit by a trailer on a farm at Ballinaboy, a short distance from Belmullet.
The incident happened shortly before 9pm yesterday.
The scene was preserved pending a technical examination, but gardaí said the incident is being treated as a tragic accident.
The Health and Safety Authority has been notified and inspectors from that agency have visited the scene.
