Sixty people have been arrested in Dublin, Cork and Wexford as part of an investigation into drug dealing.

Gardaí said those arrested have been charged with over 200 drugs offences in the past 48 hours.

Searches were carried out at 50 homes and gardaí say the covert operation into the supply of heroin, cocaine and other drugs has been ongoing for six months.

‘Operation Denver’ in Wexford town resulted in the arrest of seven men and two women including a family criminal gang - a father, brothers and sisters - aged from 22 to 61.

All of those arrested by gardaí at Wexford Garda Station were charged in connection with the supply of heroin.

They are due to appear at Wexford District Court on 15 June.

Gardaí said the investigation also targeted two other heroin supply networks in Dublin and Cork.

The 25 people arrested in Cork are all appearing in court today, while the 26 arrested in Dublin's south inner city are due in court in Dublin tomorrow.
