Three vehicles used by Irish Water have been destroyed in a suspected arson attack in Waterford city.
The attack happened last night at a compound belonging to a contractor on the Lacken Road.
The damage is estimated to be up to €100,000.
When gardaí and fire officers arrived at the scene they found a white Hino tipper truck with a hydraulic grab on fire; the vehicle was destroyed.
An Ifor Williams double-axle transport trailer with a Case mini digger and hydraulic rock breaker were both extensively damaged by fire.
Around ten metres away, another Ifor Williams double-axle trailer with a Case mini digger was damaged by fire.
The company which owns the vehicles is employed by Irish Water.
There were other vehicles located at the other side of the compound and these were not damaged or interfered with.
Gardaí are treating the incident as arson and a investigation is under way.
