A convicted murderer who has been at large after escaping from prison staff during a hospital visit has been arrested in Belfast.

Thomas Valliday, 27, escaped while attending the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald.

He had been serving a life sentence at Maghaberry high security prison.

The PSNI had warned the public not to approach the prisoner, describing him as "dangerous".

Valliday was convicted of the 2008 murder of west Belfast republican Frank "Bap" McGreevy.

He will be taken for interview by the police and then will be returned to prison.
