A 37-year-old Co Antrim man has been charged with the murder of a woman in Antrim last Monday.

Alan Norman Foster from Hillside in Antrim appeared at Coleraine Court and spoke only to confirm he understood the charge against him.

He was accused of murdering 61-year-old Pauline Carmichael whose body was discovered on the shore of Lough Neagh in Antrim on Wednesday evening.

She had been missing from her home in the town since Monday.

Alan Norman Foster did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.
