Gardaí are appealing for information after thousands of cases of Jameson Whiskey, Jack Daniels and Bombay Sapphire Gin were stolen in Dublin.

The spirits were stolen from a warehouse in Ballyfermot on 14 November.

Gardaí believe the alcohol may be offered for sale to the public in the run-up to Christmas.

A gang got away with 2,580 cases of Jameson Whiskey, each case containing six 700ml bottles.

Each of the cases stolen has one of these three batch numbers; L428112153, L428312172, L428016141, with each bottle having a corresponding batch number on the rear of the label.

An unknown number of cases of Bombay Sapphire Gin, each containing six bottles (700ml) were also taken as well as a number of cases of Jack Daniels, also containing six bottles (700ml).

Gardaí have appealed to members of the public who have already been offered cases of the alcohol to make contact.

Two employees had been working in a warehouse in Parkwest Industrial Estate between 3pm and 4pm on 14 November when two men armed with iron bars entered the building.

They forced the employees to open the loading bay.

At least three more men then arrived and the employees were tied up.

The raiders used two 40-foot trucks to steal the alcohol.

The trucks left Parkwest between 4pm and 4.30pm and travelled along Killeen Road up to the junction of Nangor Road, where they went left towards the Long Mile Road.

They then turned right onto the Naas Road and headed in the direction of the Red Cow roundabout.

It is not known whether the trucks travelled onto the M50 or continued out the N7 towards Naas.

Gardaí have appealed for information on the two tractor units and 40-foot containers used.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ballyfermot Garda Station on 01-6667227 or 01-6667200 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
