Medical professionals from around the world have gathered in Dublin for an international conference on Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.
It is 50 years since the condition was discovered simultaneously by an Irish doctor, Conor Ward, and an Italian doctor Caesare Romano in 1964.
It was initially called Romano Ward Syndrome.
Today's conference, which was organised by the Irish Heart Foundation, is being held in honour of Dr Ward who gave the opening speech.
GPs, paramedics, nurses and family members of those who died from the condition are among those attending the day long event at the Royal College of Surgeons.
