Man arrested over threatening Irish Water worker with gun released

A 59-year-old man arrested in Co Clare in connection with threatening an Irish Water worker with a firearm, has been released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The incident occurred yesterday morning at Quay Road in Clarecastle.

The man was being questioned about allegedly using a pellet gun to threaten a man contracted to install water metres for Irish Water.

The man had been held for questioning about the incident at Ennis Garda Station.

No shots were fired and no one was injured during the incident.
