A 37-year-old Longford man who has pleaded guilty to social welfare fraud involving tens of thousands of euro is to be sentenced next year.
Patrick Stokes, with an address at Lanna Aobhinn, St Michael's Road, Longford, was accused of 246 charges of receiving illegal payments of over €50,000.
He was also accused of receiving some payments in the name of another person and stealing the money on different dates at a post office in Renmore, Co Galway and the Permanent TSB Bank, Main Street in Longford over an eight-year period.
Judge Tony Hunt today set 10 February as the sentencing date for Stokes, who has been remanded on ongoing bail.
