Woman arrested after two-year-old boy's body found in Dublin apartment

A woman in her 40s has been arrested after the body of a two-year-old boy was found at an apartment in south Dublin.

The woman is being detained at Dún Laoghaire Garda Station on suspicion of murder.

Gardaí were called to an apartment at Ridge Hall in Ballybrack village at around 3pm, where they discovered the boy's body.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor.

The boy is believed to have been stabbed.

Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis later examined the scene.

The boy's body was removed from the scene this evening.

He was the subject of a Child Rescue Ireland Alert in August, but was later found safe and well.
