Gardaí investigating the disappearance of two men have carried out searches of an area near the Meath-Cavan border this evening.

Gardaí suspect their disappearance is connected to a criminal gang.

Searches were carried out this morning on land near Ross Castle, about 5km from Mountnugent in Co Cavan this morning.

The search team then moved to a nearby property in the townland of Tonagh near the border with Meath.

A house, shed and surrounding land were sealed off while gardai combed the area, which is on the shore of Lough Sheelin.

A tow truck was driven onto the property shortly after lunch followed by the Garda Water Unit.

Mr Keegan and Mr O’Connor, both from Coolock in Dublin, have not been seen since last Tuesday.

A car they were using was found near Mullingar, Co Westmeath last Friday morning.
