A man has died after a stabbing incident in Limerick city.

Gardaí were called to an apartment in the Mount Kennett complex on Dock Road at around 2am after reports that a man had been stabbed.

Patrick Redmond, 65, was brought to University Hospital Limerick where he was later pronounced dead.

The man who was separated was originally from Dublin.
