A man has been arrested following an armed robbery on a cash-in-transit van in Dublin yesterday.

Three men, one armed with a shotgun and another with a weapon, confronted a security worker as he was making a cash collection on the Old Bawn Road in Tallaght at around 1pm.

The men drove away with a sum of money in a silver Toyota Avensis towards the direction of the Allenton Estate, where the car was later recovered.

No shots were fired in the incident and no-one was injured.

A man in his early 20s was arrested in a follow-up operation last night.

He is being held at Tallaght Garda Station.
