Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has settled a €38,000 damages claim with a woman who fell in his constituency office.

Barrister Lisa Kelly, counsel for Mr Ahern, whose address was given as St Luke's, Drumcondra, Dublin, told the Circuit Civil Court  that the case was settled for an undisclosed sum.

Marie Therese O'Loughlin, of Eagle Lodge Apartments, Leinster Road West, Dublin 6, sued Mr Ahern for injuries she suffered in a trip and fall in St Luke's on 19 December, 2007.

Ms O'Loughlin claimed she had fallen in a hallway and had suffered "personal injuries and loss". No details of physical injuries were outlined to the court.

Ms Kelly told Judge Alan Mahon that she appeared for Mr Ahern who had settled the case.

She said the matter could be struck out with an order for Ms O'Loughlin's legal costs.
