A 19-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with a shooting incident in Limerick last weekend.

The charge relates to an incident in which a 21-year-old man was shot in the face.

Gordan Ryan, with an address at Greenfields, Rosbrien, Co Limerick, is charged with possession of a firearm, described as a makeshift shotgun made of steel piping, for an unlawful purpose at Hyde Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Limerick District Court on 2 July, as the investigation awaits instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
