A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of Dean Fitzpatrick in Dublin last night.

The man is being held at Coolock Garda Station.

Gardaí were called to Burnell Square apartments at Northern Cross on the Malahide Road at 11.20pm last night, where they discovered the body of the 23-year-old.

He had received a number of stab wounds and was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Dean Fitzpatrick was a brother of missing Irish teenager Amy Fitzpatrick.

The 15-year-old girl went missing on New Year's Day 2008 after leaving a friend's house on the Costa Del Sol.

Gardaí at Coolock are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attack or who may have information to contact them or use the confidential garda hotline.
