Two people have been arrested after cannabis plants were seized in Tuam, Co Galway.

The men are aged in their mid 40s and mid 50s.

The cannabis plants are estimated to have a street value €2.5m.

Approximately 3,000 plants at various stage of growth were seized, as was drug-growing paraphernalia.

The arrests were part of Operation Nitrogen targeting cannabis operations.

The men are being held at Mill Street Garda Station in Galway.
