Gardaí are treating the death of a 22-year-old Latvian man in Dublin this week as suspicious.

The body of Deniss Timosejevs, from Thornleigh Place, Applewood in Swords was found face down on a dirt track in a field at Balheary on Tuesday afternoon.

A post-mortem found he had sustained internal injuries and a broken arm.

Gardaí said he had left his home to go for a walk.

His phone, bankcard and Latvian drivers' licence, which he had when he left home, are missing.

Mr Timosejevs came to Ireland in 2011 and lived with family members in Swords.

He worked in a shop in the Pavillion Centre.

Superintendent Ronan Galligan said Mr Timosejevs was wearing a distinct orange and black jacket and a football scarf when he left his house.

Gardaí suspect Mr Timosejevs may not have sustained the injuries at the place where he was found and are continuing to search the area.

Supt Galligan appealed for anyone with information to contact Swords Garda Station.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Swords Garda Station 01-6664700, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
