A man who swallowed over 20 packages of illegal drugs in an attempt to smuggle them into the country has been jailed for three years.
Manual Gomes Da Silva, who is from Guinea Bissau in West Africa, was arrested at Belfast International Airport as he got off a flight from Faro in Portugal in October 2011.
He was taken to hospital where an x-ray revealed a number of packages concealed inside his body.
They included 22 packages of heroin weighing almost 220 grammes.
He pleaded guilty at Antrim Crown Court to smuggling the heroin, worth €27300.
