Man arrested after Blackrock bank robbery

Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery at a bank in Blackrock, Co Dublin this afternoon.

A lone male armed with a handgun entered the bank and threatened staff and customers around 3.50pm.

The raider took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene. No shots were fired and no injuries sustained.

In a follow up search shortly after the robbery investigating Gardaí stopped a Taxi on the Merrion Road and arrested the 51-year-old passenger in connection with the investigation.

He is currently detained at Blackrock Garda Station under Section 30 Offences against the State act 1939.
