The Police Service of Northern Ireland has said it is monitoring a page on social networking site Facebook, which claims to identify paedophiles living in the Limavady area of Co Derry.
Over 1,000 Facebook users have been following the site on which photographs of people from the Limavady area have been uploaded and threatening remarks have been made.
The PSNI said they had identified the person behind the page and are monitoring it to ensure it does not breach the law.
The statement added that the vast majority of the site comment is already in the public domain as a result of news reporting from court reports and other media outlets.
Sinn Féin Mayor of Limavady Cathal McLaughlin said he was disappointed the PSNI had not taken action to remove the page, and said it should be taken down immediately.
