Woman charged over son's death 'medically unfit' to attend court

A 42-year-old woman charged with the murder of her eight-year-old son was medically unfit to attend a court hearing in Co Limerick this morning.

Diane Ward, with an address at Harrison Place in Charleville, Co Cork, is charged with the murder of her son Anthony at their home on 3 September last.

Newcastle West District Court was told she was medically unfit to attend the hearing and a letter confirming this was presented to the court.

Judge Mary Larkin remanded her in custody for a further two weeks to appear by video link at Limerick District Court on 25 September next.

Ms Ward's solicitor Paul Cagney appeared on her behalf and made no objection to the two week remand.
