Stephen Rae has been appointed as editor of the Irish Independent.
Mr Rae, formerly editor of the Evening Herald, is to replace Gerry O'Regan, who is retiring after seven years.
In his new role, Mr Rae is to be responsible for both the print and online editions of the newspaper.
Mr O'Regan will stay on at the newspaper as a contributor.
