The former personal assistant to U2 bass player Adam Clayton has gone on trial at the Circuit Criminal Court charged with 181 counts of theft from his bank accounts between 2004 and 2008.
Carol Hawkins, aged 47, from Lower Rathmines Road in Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Adam Clayton is one of more than 30 witnesses who are scheduled to give evidence.
Ms Hawkins is charged with 181 counts of theft - relating to stealing money from bank accounts in Mr Clayton's name.
It took two hours to read out all the counts to the jury of seven men and five women. Ms Hawkins replied "not guilty" to each charge.
In total the charges add up to around €2.8m.
Mr Clayton was accompanied to the Circuit Criminal Court by U2 manager Paul McGuinness.
The lowest amount of money Ms Hawkins is accused of taking from the accounts is just under €2,000, the highest is €310,000.
Judge Pat McCartan said it had been a somewhat tedious day. But he said it was a necessary process and an accused person has to have the opportunity to have the charges put to them and to be able to answer the charges.
The jury will return tomorrow when it is expected the prosecution will open its case and the first witnesses may give evidence.
