Man and woman arrested over Dublin pipebomb

Two people have been arrested following the discovery of a viable explosive device in Tallaght in Dublin last night.

Gardaí believe the device, a pipe bomb, was thrown from a car which they pursued and stopped in the Firhouse area at around 10pm.

The Army Bomb Disposal Team was alerted and the device was made safe and removed for a forensic examination.

A man and woman, both in their 20s, were arrested at the scene.

They are being held at Crumlin and Sundrive Road Garda Stations and can be questioned for up to three days.
