A 26-year-old Donegal man has appeared before a special sitting of the Magistrates Court in Derry charged in connection with a number of offences.
Martin McDermott, originally from Raphoe, was charged with assaulting three police officers, resisting a police officer, disorderly behaviour and criminal damage.
He was arrested by police in Derry yesterday morning.
Judge John Meehan refused bail on the grounds that the defendant was a flight risk and remanded the defendant in custody.
As he was led from the dock, McDermott shouted obscenities at the judge.
He was brought back to the court room a short time later and apologised for the outburst.
The judge charged him with a further offence, misbehaviour in court, and fined him £150.
He is to appear before Derry Magistrates Court by video link next Thursday.
