A prison officer has been jailed for five years for smuggling drugs and SIM cards into Mountjoy Prison two years ago.
Jarlath Walsh, 40, from Dublin, was caught with over €20,000 worth of cocaine, cannabis and prescription tablets when he was searched just before he began work on 20 December 2010.
Walsh also had two SIM cards hidden in his waistband.
He admitted it was the fourth time he had smuggled drugs into the prison.
Walsh claimed that he had been threatened by men who had got into his car and told him they knew where he worked.
He also claimed that on another occasion he found photographs of his family left in his car.
Walsh's father and brother are both gardaí and Walsh said when he asked his father what he should do he told him not to report it.
