A man in his 40s has been arrested and two firearms have been seized in the Swords area of Co Dublin.
The suspect, who was on foot, was stopped and searched by gardaí in Applewood at about 8pm last night.
Officers from the Organised Crime Unit discovered what they believe to be two weapons and a quantity of ammunition in a bag.
The items will be subject to examination.
The man was brought to Swords Garda Station where he is currently being detained.
The arrest was part of an ongoing operation targeting the activities of a north Dublin criminal gang.
