A new survey by Engineers Ireland has found that 80% of engineers are satisfied with their career choice, despite the recession.
Engineers are going into classrooms around the country this week as part of Engineers' Week to help improve students' understanding of maths and engineering as a career.
Commenting on the project, Minister Sean Sherlock said the prospect of engineers supporting maths teachers could bolster the drive to tackle Ireland's technical skills deficit.
Engineers Ireland Director General John Power said engineers working with maths teachers was something that should be explored further.
