54,000 cigarettes seized in Fermoy

Some 54,000 cigarettes, with a retail value of €23,000, have been seized in Fermoy, Co Cork.

Some 54,000 cigarettes have been seized in Fermoy, Co Cork, after an operation involving Revenue's Customs Service.

The 'Bon International' brand have a retail value of €23,000 and represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of €18,300.

An Irish man in his 60s was questioned over the incident, and the vehicle involved was seized.

Revenue was assisted in the operation by gardaí from Fermoy Garda Station.
