Two men have been arrested after cannabis plants were discovered by gardaí in Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

Two men were arrested yesterday after cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €500,000 were discovered by gardaí in Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

The find came as part of an ongoing garda operation targeting the growth of illegal drugs in the Mullingar area.

Gardaí carried out a planned search of an industrial unit at around 2.30pm yesterday afternoon, where a grow house was discovered.

The two men, aged 37 and 42-years-old, are currently being detained at Mullingar Garda Station.
