The Garda Ombudsman is to carry out a full investiagtion into a road crash involving a garda vehicle and another car.
The collision occurred at around 11pm at Barigone, Askeaton, Co Limerick.
Three gardaí and two men travelling in the other car were brought to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
Their injuries are described as "non life threatening".
The road where last night's crash occured was closed off for an examination by road traffic collision inspectors.

The crash was near where a garda and a fireman were killed while attending the scene of an accident four years ago.
Garda Brian Kelleher and fireman Michael Liston were knocked down by a car and killed while attending the scene of a road crash in February 2007.
