The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group has confirmed that the humpback whale spotted off the Wexford coast earlier is a new sighting in Irish waters.
The humpback was observed from a boat owned by skipper Martin Colfer, about 5km south of Hook Head.
The animal will be allocated the reference ‘HBIRL18’.
